Well, I haven’t posted in what seems to be an eon or so. Have I been busy? I’m not sure. It’s all relative anyway. Nevertheless, I’ve definitely been. I’ve been schooling, and city walking, and shamefully engrossed in Final Fantasy X-2 (I dig the RPGs, what can I say?). There have been baseball games and comedy shows, boss battles and audio projects. First in the news, Jeremy has moved to the city and is now living with Tyler, Morgan, and Jen at Lansdowne. They are our new subway neighbours. 5 minutes down Bloor, and only slightly sketchier than the place we live now. Ho hum.
So, Connor did some stand-up at some pub at Bloor and Church. Special Guest Star Scott Thompson of The Kids in the Hall was there. !!! Connor had to take the stage directly after Mr. Thompson chuckled me to bits. Bad luck, bad karma, either way the newbie impressed me. Other moments to note were when Jeremy was heckled by the host comedian, who thought herself quite the jester. Jeremy won that battle in my book.
And then we went to a Jays game. It was Twoonie Tuesday at the Dome (or the Rogers Centre as the call it now). Before we watched the Jays lose to the Oakland A’s, we went to this wing place nestles in the rather ditchy area between Lansdown and Dufferin that has, get this, 92 flavours of wings. 92. No joke. Fly me to heaven on a wing made of chicken. Onward towards the Dome. It was a mediocre game. Mostly I enjoyed the little dudes that run onto the field and clean it up. I can’t remember what they call them. Jeremy and Eddie propagated the wave. Lucas took out Jonny T with his own 7th inning stretch, and I watched Welles and Glaus not hit homeruns. Next time, boys. And then Pat messaged me with the all-time greatest message that one could receive from an instant message. “Wanna go see Pearl Jam tonight?” That’s right. The second night of Pearl Jam’s could-be last tour ever at the Air Canada Centre. There’s only one response to give: Yes. Release me. So I met Pat at Yorkdale and we subwayed it down into the nexus of chaos. Grabbing a couple cokes from McDonalds and a bottle of rum from the LCBO, we sat on the wall of Union Station and watched Front Street pass us by. As trashy as it was, it was perfect. Cue Eddie Vedder. The show was amazing. Our seats were amazing. The show the night before had featured mostly tunes of their new album, but the second night was treated to a more historic repertoire. We got all the goodies. Release, Alive, Jeremy, Crazy Mary, Elderly Woman, Betterman, Black, etc. etc. Stadium shows just have a certain amount of life-changing energy when, in the words of Mr. Vedder “There are so many variables between people, and it’s amazing that we’re all here together tonight.”
